UMS Inks MoU With AEU To Offer ODL Programmes

KOTA KINABALU, July 19 (Bernama) -- Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) embarked on another academic milestone today with the inking of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Asia e University (AeU), which enables UMS to promote postgraduate Masters Programmes online and reach out to potential international students.

UMS vice-chancellor Brig Gen Prof Datuk Seri Kamaruzaman Ampon during the MoU signing ceremony today said besides increasing the intake of international students in UMS, the move was also consistent with the national agenda to promote Malaysia as an international education hub.

The signing was witnessed by State Resource Development and Information Technology Minister Datuk Dr Yee Moh Chai. Kamaruzaman represented UMS and AeU was represented by its president, Prof Datuk Ansary Ahmed.

As initial collaboration between UMS and AeU, two programmes have been identified for the ODL, namely Master of Human Capital Management (School of Business and Economics) and Master in Education Management (School of Education and Social Development). However, it is only expected to be introduced in January next year.

AeU, headquartered in Kuala Lumpur, is a flexible, international university set in Asia under the Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD). Its establishment is an initiative of Malaysia as the prime mover for e-education, with the support of 31 ACD member countries.
