AUCMS embarks on aggressive expansion exercise

FRESH from being granted university college status, Penang-based Allianze University College of Medical Sciences (AUCMS) has embarked on an aggressive expansion exercise in pursuing its vision to be the top meducationist in the nation and the world by the year 2015.

The main thrust of the expansion is in its medical degree programmes that includes the introduction of AUCMS' own medical degree programme by this September, and the opening of its three satellite campuses.

The all-new AUCMS medical degree programme will complement the existing four medical degree programmes offered by the college, boosting its intake capacity to more than 400 places annually.

To strengthen AUCMS position as the leading private medical and applied sciences college in the northern region, it will soon open satellite campuses in Perlis, Kedah, and Perak.

Since its inception in 2002, AUCMS has been offering four medical degree programmes in collaboration with Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) in Indonesia, and two reputable Ireland universities; University College Cork (UCC) and National University of Ireland (NUI) Calway.

Graduates of these programmes receive medical degrees from the respective universities and are fully accredited by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) agency and Malaysian Medical Council (MMC).

Another key milestone for AUCMS this year is that the MD USU programme will be carried out fully in Malaysia; students will no longer have to travel to Sumatra for their pre-clinical studies.

In a landmark move to further facilitate aspiring doctors to enrol in the MD USU and MD AUCMS programmes, the college is inking a deal with local banks to offer loan facilities for eligible students taking the two programmes.
