
Ms Low being toured through the creative archives of the university – looking at the Guli-guli Limkokwing collection strips, during her campus walkabout with Associate Vice President, Creativity and Innovation, Tiffanee Marie Lim.
Making a movie is by no means an easy task. It demands exceptional talents, creative skills, discipline and professionalism on the part of the producer to put together various elements such as scripts, sets, costumes, production, direction, actors, storyboards and music score before the movie could wow audiences all over the world.
For the Faculty of Film, Radio and Television students, it was a rare opportunity to pick up some pointers on movie making when one of the country’s most celebrated movie makers, Ms Low Ngai Yuen made an appearance at the Cyberjaya campus of Limkokwing University of Creative Technology recently.
Viewing the creative student works in the gallery of the design students of graphic design, product design and fashion design artwork exhibition. As a movie producer, her other works include ‘Geng Bas Sekolah’, ‘Kapten Boleh’, ‘5Jingga’, ‘Adik’ and ‘Kasut Tumit Tinggi’.
Low - Head of Marketing and Communications for Carrefour Malaysia and Singapore - also picked up the Young Woman Achiever 2007 by ‘Her World’ magazine and Top 40 Under-40 High Achiever awarded by ‘Prestige’ magazine.
She runs a program ambiguously conceptualized to perk up audience development, featuring 100 hours of performing arts, outreach and community theatre development in conjunction with the centennial celebration of International Women’s Day 2011.
Her advice to the film and television student is the value in the work of performing arts in breaking through by reaching the youth; Low Ngai Yuen mentioned the fundamental aspect of performing art as it can be a career.

A well-known programme host, writer and producer, Low is a winner of numerous awards such as the Audience Choice Award in 2003 and 2005, Best Short Film Award, Malaysian Video Award – recognition for her movies like ‘3R’ ‘Your World My World’ and the well-received short horror film ‘The Gil from Ipoh’.
